Right next to KOUREMENO'S beach, 2km from Palekastro village and 4 km away from the famous VAI palm forest, we built GALINI apartments with comfortable and spacious rooms (Studios & Apartments) for 2-5 persons.

A hospitable and quiet place with low prices. All the apartments are fully equipped with beautifull sea view, kitchen, bathroom, tv, air contidion, private balconies. GALINI apartments is rounded by garden and it also has space for parking.

You can enjoy your swim at the marvellous beaches of the area, to pay a visit to the old town of ERIMOUPOLIS and the very old chapel of virgin Mary at MONI TOPLOU, to walk to the palm forest of VAI, to enjoy a meal of fresh fish at the taverns of KOUREMENO'S and HIONAS bay and to do your shopping at the traditional village of PALAIKASTRO, which is only 3km away.

SURFING

In the region of the traditional area "Kouremenou" and in distance about 350 metres from the "GALINI Apartments" it functions the last ten years with big success a completely organised surfing club as the weather and the clean sea of the area encourages this sport lovers.

East Crete area stands for strong winds. The meltemi blasts in from the north between the hills, with forces of 7 - 8 no rare occasion in summer. Kouremenos has the position, where the meltemi is at its most reliable and strongest.

Vai (palm beach)

Situated 8 km north - east of Palekastro near the Ancient City of Itanos. It is the largest (250 hectares) oasis of palm trees in Europe, with incomparably beautiful lush greenery, thousands of palms, ending up to a pristine golden beach. A decisive role in the making and development of this exotic oasis was semi-tropical climate of the region.

The Phoenix Palm was held as a holy symbol to the Minoen Civilization at 1450 BC. The history of the palm forest has been lost through the centuries, though there are many myths and speculations of its beginnings.

It was dated to the 2nd century BC. According to well established historic sources it was created from date seeds which the Egyptian soldiers lest behind as they passed by during s war in support if the ITANS against near cities.

Vai has been declared both as an aesthetic palm forest and a unique biotope with rare flora and fauna. The endemic variety of Phoenix of Theophrasti palm grows naturally. The age old Phoenix Palm Trees along the beach, together with the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the close proximity of the small island, provide an exotic picture of incomparable beauty, that attracts thousands of people from all over the world to enjoy.
